Liverpool's next summer signing could be yet another star from La Liga, if reports in Spain are to be believed. Marca revealed at the weekend that the Reds are interested in Real Madrid's Jose Callejon. talkSPORT's Transfer Spotlight has more on the Spaniard... Name: Jose Maria Callejon Bueno Date of birth: 11 February, 1987 Position: Forward Club: Real Madrid International appearances: 4 (Spain U21) Honours: La Liga (2011/12), Spanish Supercopa (2012) Callejon was a favourite of Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu and has enjoyed a comfortable two seasons with Madrid after being bought back from Espanyol. With the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti, however, his time looks up, as the Italian is interested in promoting both Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez permanently from the Madrid youth team, both of whom can play in his position. Liverpool are said to be competing in a three-horse race with Fiorentina and Napoli for his signature. Did you know? 1) Born in Granada, Andalucia, Callejon joined Real Madrid's academy in 2002 at the age of 15. He made his debut for Madrid's reserve team, Real Madrid Castilla, in the 2006/07 season while they were playing in the Spanish second division. 2) The reserves were relegated at the end of the season and Callejon made a major mark on the third division in the season that followed, scoring 21 goals in 37 games and finished the campaign as the top scorer in Castilla's regional group. 3) Madrid sold the forward to Espanyol in 2008 and he made his first division debut in September of that year against Getafe. His first goal came in a 3-3 draw with Mallorca that season, and under Mauricio Pochettino he made over 100 appearances for the Catalans, scoring 11 goals. 4) Callejon's impressive displays with Espanyol led to Real Madrid re-signing him in 2011, and he quickly impressed Jose Mourinho by scoring four goals in pre-season. He established himself as one of Mourinho's favourite players during the course of the following season, scoring doubles against Ajax and Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, and finishing the season with 36 appearances, 13 goals and two assists in all competitions. In May, Callejon lifted his first piece of major silverware, the La Liga title. 5) Last season Callejon continued to be a regular for Madrid, though his goals tended to come against lesser opposition. Notably, he again scored a brace against Ajax in the Champions League, his second against the Dutch club in two seasons.He says"Manuel Garcia Quilon, Callejon's agent, already knows that Madrid don't consider him part of their plans, and he has spent some time looking for the best transfer possible. Liverpool have re-entered the race to sign Tom Ince as their pursuit of Christian Atsu stalls, Goal can reveal. The Merseysiders have registered their interest in the England Under-21 international once again and will notify the player later this month as to whether they will follow up by activating his £8 million release clause. As reported by Goal, Cardiff City have already bid £8m for the Blackpool attacking midfielder, while Swansea City are also closely monitoring his situation. It is understood that Liverpool have been in contact with the player's camp for the first time since January amid fears that a deal to capture Porto winger Christian Atsu could collapse. The Ghana international, 21, has been on the Reds' radar as they continue an extensive summer recruitment programme that has already included the signings of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, defender Kolo Toure, attacking midfielder Luis Alberto and striker Iago Aspas. Manager Brendan Rodgers wants to add further width and penetration to his attack and has now targeted another swoop for Ince. The Merseysiders came close to signing Ince in January but could not agree a fee with Blackpool during what were understood to be "heated" negotiations with the Championship club, which were complicated by the 35 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that took Ince from Anfield to the Seasiders in August 2011. Cardiff made their first formal move for Ince, with the player's father, Paul, the former England and Manchester United midfielder who is his manager at Bloomfield Road, admitting that Blackpool had accepted a bid from the Premier League newcomers. However, Malky Mackay's men have not yet agreed personal terms with the youngster, opening up the possibility that he could still move elsewhere, and Goal understands that Ince's preferred destination would be a return to Anfield. Kolo Toure will put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Liverpool FC today as the players begin pre-season training. The Reds squad return to Melwood to kick-start their preparations for the new Premier League campaign. Luis Suarez will not report for training this week because of his involvement in the Confederations Cup where Uruguay played in the third-fourth play-off on Sunday night. And Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will also excuse Conor Coady and John Flanagan from training after they played for England in the under-20s World Cup in Turkey. But the clutch of new signings will be at the club's training base today to join up with the squad for the first time since joining Liverpool. Toure, one of four fresh faces coming into the Reds set-up, will finalise his move from Manchester City today. The 32-year-old comes to Anfield as a free transfer following his release by the Etihad Stadium side at the end of last season. A Premier League title winner with Arsenal and City, Toure will commit himself to the club until the summer of 2015. Liverpool are still hoping to add Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the ranks this summer, despite his club coach urging him to reject the Reds' advances. Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for ex-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, according to French radio station RMC Sports. The former Anfield favourite has been the subject of much speculation in recent months as he is in the final year of his contract at Real Madrid and is yet to agree a new deal. Alonso, who turns 32 in November, was a key figure under former Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho, and it has been suggested that the Portuguese is seeking a reunion with the deep-lying playmaker at Chelsea. The Europa League champions are light on midfield options and the 106-cap Spain international is on their radar. But fellow moneybags PSG are also tracking the Spaniard, although it remains to be seen whether they will firm up their interest with a concrete bid in the coming weeks. The future of Thomas Ince is in the balance after Blackpool accepted Cardiff's £8m bid for the England Under-21 winger. Although Paul Ince, Blackpool's manager and the player's father, has confirmed that the offer is on the table, he remains unsure whether his son will be leaving north-west England in the near future. "Cardiff have come in massively for Thomas and the chairman has accepted their offer," confirmed Ince senior, speaking from Blackpool's pre-season training camp in Portugal. "But Thomas has told me he's in no rush to leave the club. I think it's 50/50 at the moment. He loves it here. It's a tricky one for me - ideally you want your son to be playing in the Premier League but you also want him to be playing for you. I wouldn't put my hat on it that he'll be playing in the Premier League this year." Ince junior scored 18 goals in 44 Championship appearances last season, a creditable haul for a winger and has attracted interest from higher-profile Premier League clubs including Liverpool - where he began his career and, who, under the terms of his transfer to Blackpool, stand to benefit from a 35 per cent sell-on clause and have first refusal should they match any bid for him - and Newcastle United. There is a feeling at Bloomfield Road that Cardiff's move may serve to smoke out longstanding interest from Anfield and St James' Park in the 21-year-old this summer and, even if nothing happens in the next couple of months, it could suit Blackpool, and Ince senior, to keep the club's most talented player until January at the earliest. Ben Davies reckons Swansea skipper Ashley Williams is worth every penny of his £10million price tag. But the Wales defender has urged his team-mate for club and country to turn down interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. Williams, 28, extended his contract to 2015 last October. And Swansea are determined to cash-in on their captain if he decides to move after five successful seasons at the Liberty Stadium. Davies said: "A price of £10million for Ash is completely justified when you see some of the money being spent, especially on foreign players who are unproven in the Premier League. "That would be a fair price but it would still be a massive loss for us. "Last season he was one of the best centre-halves in the league, especially when you consider the team he is in and doesn't have the very best midfielders in front of him helping out." Swansea have already brought in Spain Under-21 defender Jordi Amat from Espanyol. But 20-year-old Davies admits it would be a major blow to lose a player who has been key to his emergence with Swansea and Wales. Davies said: "Ash has had a big influence on me. He gave me a lot of confidence on the pitch and made the transition from Swansea to Wales very easy for me. "If we do lose him to a bigger team then we will have to adapt pretty quickly. Aston Villa are targeting Belgium player Nacer Chadli as a new way of trying to keep Christian Benteke. Villa have joined a host of clubs chasing FC Twente winger Chadli, who only has a year left to run on his contract. And Villa hope that if they could sign Chadli it may help convince Benteke to stay at least another year. Fulham, Tottenham, Liverpool and West Brom have also been tracking Chadli, who scored 16 goals for Twente last season. Although Chadli has played on the wing for Twente, Lambert wants a creative spark to play in the hole and would consider moving the 23-year-old inside. Lambert may also need to start moving on unwanted high-earners Darren Bent, Shay Given and Stephen Ireland before ­launching a firm bid.
