Liverpool tried to sign Hungary winger Balazs Dzsudzsak during the January transfer window but Dynamo Moscow refused to sell, according to the player's agent.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was known to have been on the lookout for another winger last month, having twice failed to land top target Tom Ince, and Dzsudzsak emerged as a last minute alternative.

Indeed, according to agent Jozsef Vorosbaranyi, Liverpool along with Italian side Inter Milan both made their interest in the 26-year-old known, but his club Dynamo were never willing to do business.

'Inter along with Liverpool wanted to add Balazs to their squad,' said Vorosbaranyi.

'But Dynamo would not let the player go.'

However, the door has not entirely been shut by the Dzsudzsak camp, with the agent going on to suggest a transfer could still happen in the summer.

'My client really likes Moscow, but he wants to move to one of the major European leagues.

'I hope in the summer, Dynamo would look at doing a deal if an offer arrived.'

It's thought that Dyanmo would only sell Dzsudzsak for a figure of around £12million.
