Liverpool coach Alex Inglethorpe was delighted to see Jack Dunn make such an impact on his first start for the U21s.
The 18-year-old slotted home the winner on his reserve team bow against Wolves on Monday night.
"We all know Jack can score goals - it's something he has shown throughout all the age groups," Inglethorpe said.
"That was probably the most pleased I've been with the team's performance since I've been here.
"Sometimes you have to adapt and show plenty of heart and character. We rolled our sleeves up when had to and also played some very good football on a difficult surface."
The U21s' next game is against Spurs at Anfield on April 1 (2pm).
