Liverpool and Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Vasco defender Dede after confirmation he will leave the club.
Jamie Carragher will retire at the end of the season and Brendan Rodgers wants to replace him - with doubts over the futures of Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel as well.
This has led to the Liverpool manager's interest in Dede, widely regarded as the best defender in the Brazil top flight, and a move could be made in the summer.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have also been linked with him in recent weeks.
Vasco want to cash-in on one of their stars to ease their money worries and manager Paulo Autuori says the player is on his way out.
"I know Dede is leaving, we talked about this since when I was negotiating with the club, I won't make up stories as that only complicates things," he confirmed.
Director Cristiano Koehler has also said that Dede will go.
