Liverpool are looking to bolster their defence with a deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Mamadou Sakho.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Wednesday night that Liverpool are interested in the France central defender.
Sakho, 23, has won 14 caps for his country and can also play at left back. Barcelona are also monitoring him.
His signing could become more urgent if the injuries sustained by Kolo Toure and Aly Cissokho against Notts County are serious.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said: "Kolo Toure has overstretched his groin, so we need to assess that, which doesn't look so good to be honest.
"It was obviously disappointing with Cissokho getting injured so early on - he was distraught coming off as you can imagine."
Rodgers did confirm, however, that Martin Skrtel will be fit to face Manchester United on Sunday.
