Anything you can do, I can do better. That's the message Luis Suarez sent out to man of the moment Gareth Bale after he made it 21 for the season in his side's demoliton of a hapless Wigan.
Becoming only the third Liverpool player to reach the milestone in a single Premier League season, the comparisons to another legendary Reds striker are hard to ignore.
Robbie Fowler was renowned on Merseyside for his ruthlessness in front of goal, and scored more than 20 Premier League goals in two different seasons at Anfield.
Suarez has struggled in the past to convert chances at key times, but this campaign he certainly has found his shooting boots, and leads the line in a style reminiscent of Fowler in his prime.
Before the January arrivals of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho much of the creative and goalscoring burden weighed heavily on the striker's shoulders.
However Sturridge has netted some vital strikes since his arrival from Chelsea, and in Coutinho, Suarez has a player that produces the sort of passes his predatory instincts crave.
One of Suarez's major strengths is his intelligence to be in the right place at the right time, but until now, he has often been frustrated by the service on offer.
Joe Allen is yet to find his feet, Steven Gerrard plays a lot deeper these days and Jordan Henderson has been in and out of the team.
The Brazilian Coutinho seems like the type of player that Suarez will thrive on, and the link-up play for Liverpool's second goal at the DW Stadium was a prime example of how this could be a fruitful partnership.
Only time will tell if the former Inter Milan man will be able to produce on a regular basis, but if he continues to create as much as he did against Wigan, then Suarez will reap the rewards.
It will allow him the freedom to not worry about dropping deeper and getting involved in the build-up.
He will have to on occasion, as Brendan Rodgers philosophy is the short passing game, but now he has much less pressure on his shoulders, and it is showing.
Finding form at the right time, he can propel the Reds to a late challenge for a European place, and collect the personal accolades in the process.
