The Dutchman moved to Barcelona from PSV in 2011 but struggled to make an impact at the Nou Camp. He also been a peripheral figure at Schalke, managing just 11 starts in all competitions. But he is still highly rated on the continent, with reports in Italy suggesting the European trio of Lazio, Inter and Lyon will tussle for his services when he seeks his next move.
