Liverpool are ready to pounce for Loic Remy during the summer.

The France international only left Marseille for Queens Park Rangers in the January transfer window, when Harry Redknapp used £8million of his budget to lure him to the capital.

Remy was tasked with scoring the goals to keep the Hoops in the Premier League, but despite a return of five goals in 10 matches, they were relegated on Sunday.

Although he wants to keep the bulk of his squad together, Redknapp knows owner Tony Fernandes is likely to ask him to offload a number of his big-earners as the Loftus Road club prepare for life in the Championship. And Remy heads a list including the likes of Adel Taarabt, Julio Cesar and Christopher Samba as their most saleable assets.

Remy has a relegation release clause of £8million in his contract, a fee which will earn plenty of interest during the coming weeks.

Arsenal have been admirers of the striker in the past, whilst Tottenham Hotspur were linked earlier this month and Alan Pardew, who already has a number of French players, would love to add him to his Newcastle United squad.

And now the Express claim Brendan Rodgers has identified the 26-year-old for a move to Anfield.

Rodgers has been told he has cash to spend when the window reopens, and he is prepared to challenge his top-flight rivals to sign the QPR ace.

This would then give him some mouth-watering options in his attacking positions, with Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho already on board for the third highest scorers in the Premier League.
