Long-standing Liverpool and Everton target Keisuke Honda will finally join AC Milan on New Year's Day, according to sources in Japan.
The San Siro giants have been in pursuit of the Japan international for the last year and came close to agreeing a deal to sign him from CSKA Moscow during the summer.
However, that transfer failed to go through and Milan will now snap him up on a free transfer the day after his contract expires at the Russian club.
Reports in Japan claim documents relating to his forthcoming transfer have already been issued to the Italian Football Federation.
Honda, 27, has been capped 50 times and has been monitored by both Merseyside teams since his days at former club VVV-Venlo.
