Aly Cissokho is set to return to the Liverpool FC squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The French left-back, who is on a season-long loan from Valencia, has been ruled out by an ankle injury since making his home debut against Notts County in August.

However, Cissokho is now fit and has played a full part in training this week.

Boss Brendan Rodgers has also been boosted by the return of Glen Johnson and Joe Allen to light training.

The duo trained away from the main group at Melwood today but both are back running after spells on the sidelines.

Johnson has been missing since hurting his ankle in last month's victory over Manchester United, while Allen has been hampered by a hamstring problem since the League Cup tie against Notts County.

Neither will be involved against Palace but Rodgers expects them both to be available for the trip to Newcastle United on October 19.

Allen was today named in the Wales squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Belgium but Liverpool have informed boss Chris Coleman the midfielder won't be available for international duty.

Instead the £15million man will remain at Melwood to build up his fitness.

There is also positive news on Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian is making good progress after undergoing surgery on the shoulder injury he suffered at Swansea City last month.

Coutinho, who will start running again at Melwood next week, won't be back for the Newcastle game but the home clash with West Brom on October 26 has been pencilled in as a possible return date.
