Liverpool have held further talks with Sporting Lisbon as they look to wrap up a deal for defender Tiago Ilori. The ECHO revealed last week that the Reds had renewed their interest in the highly-rated 20-year-old centre-back. Negotiations broke down back in June with the clubs far apart in their valuations but Liverpool are hopeful a compromise fee of around £6million can be agreed. Boss Brendan Rodgers is also interested in Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Mamadou Sakho. However, with Roma also keen on him and PSG reluctant to sell, Ilori appears to be the more likely new arrival before Monday's transfer deadline. Toby Alderweireld, who Liverpool have repeatedly been linked with this summer, is set to leave Ajax to sign for Atletico Madrid. The Reds scouted Alderweireld extensively but opted not to follow up their interest having come to the conclusion he wasn't suited to the demands of Premier League football.
