LIVERPOOL are ready to lead the late transfer frenzy from English clubs after lining up a quartet of players, including a £25million double deal for defenders Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori.

Brendan Rodgers is also seeking to tie up interest in Chelsea's Victor Moses and Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday.

The Reds were yesterday trying to arrange medicals for Sakho, 23, who will cost about £18m from Paris Saint-Germain, and Ilori, 20, whom Liverpool expect to sign for £7m from Sporting Lisbon.

The duo would take Liverpool's complement of centre-halves to five, with Daniel Agger, Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel already in place. But Rodgers has ruled out anyone leaving.

Talks are continuing with Chelsea over a £1m loan deal for Moses, while Given is being lined up to come in as No2.
