Ajax are concerned about the prospect of losing both Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld before the transfer window slams shut on 2nd September.
The Dutch champions have given Tottenham Hotspur permission to hold talks with Eriksen, who has just one year left on his contract at the Amsterdam ArenA, despite director of football Marc Overmars saying "we will not be happy to lose him. The coaching staff feel that Eriksen was an important part of the team last season".
Now, according to Belgian broadcaster RTBF, Ajax are concerned that Belgium international Alderweireld will follow Eriksen out of the door.
The centre-back is known to be wanted by a number of clubs, with Liverpool regularly linked with the defender, while Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently hinted at his own interest in the 24-year-old.
Atletico Madrid bid for the defender earlier this week, seeing their offer knocked back as not good enough, and Alderweireld was wanted by Spartak Moscow, although could find no agreement on personal terms; he has also rejected a switch to Norwich City.
Napoli have been keen too, but throughout the summer saga, Alderweireld has insisted his first choice is a move to the English Premier League.
Now, as the transfer clock ticks down, Ajax are braced for further offers for the defender, who has just a year left on his contract, like Eriksen.
Alderweireld was a key part of the Ajax side that won the Eredivisie title last season, helping the club to clinch three consecutive crowns under coach Frank de Boer. He may not be at the side to help with their title defence however.
