Bleacher Report: Wilson's LFC USA diary

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson was signed by the club as an eight-year-old.

Now 16 and part of Liverpool's Under-18 set-up, Wilson will be producing a daily diary for Bleacher Report during their trip to New York for the Newark International Soccer Classic.

Read Harry's Monday entry here.

Last night we went to the 11th Street bar in Manhattan-a Liverpool fan spot in New York. We signed a few t-shirts for the NY Reds who came along, and the supporters asked us some questions. After that we walked around New York City, saw some sights and got to bed around 10 o'clock.

The whole squad met for breakfast at 10 this morning (Tuesday), then we went to register for the tournament.

We had to take our passports and get photos taken.

We're in a group with Fuddercol of Colombia, who we play later today, Maccabi Haifa of Israel and the hosts, St. Benedict's Prep team. After registration it was back to the hotel for two hours before leaving for the game.

I normally just lie down and put my headphones on. Some of the other guys take a sleep; others will watch a film. It's whatever you need to get you relaxed and focused for the game ahead.

We'll arrive at the stadium about 90 minutes before kickoff, take a walk on the pitch and decide whether to wear moulds or studs. Then it's back into the changing room, where we put some music on and get in the mood.

The music selection depends on who's in charge. We all like a beat to get us going-some of the lads prefer rap, others go for classic house music.

I'm always nervous before kickoff. It really doesn't matter to me whether we're playing Manchester United or in a practice match. But as soon as the whistle goes, I'm up for it and the nerves disappear.

My role is an attacking one going forward, but I have my defensive duties too. I'm told to tuck inside when we're defending and put a lot of pressure on the ball when the opposition has it.

Favourite Liverpool player?

Over the past 10 years it's got to be Steven Gerrard. The things he's achieved and the loyalty he's shown to the club are incredible.

He's the complete player and he tries to be as involved with the youth setup as he can. Right now, my favourite player is Philippe Countinho. He plays in a similar position to me, is attack-minded and tries things on the pitch. I love the way he plays.
