Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt has brushed speculation over a move for centre-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos under the table, declaring the Greek international a 'mainstay' at the club.
Papadopoulos has been consistently linked with English giants Liverpool this summer, although the Reds have yet to present Shalke with a concrete bid for the stopper.
The defender has been spending time on the sidelines injured, but Shalke are confident he will be fully fit soon and are counting upon him for the new Bundesliga campaign.
And for Heldt, Papadopoulos is an essential member of the side.
"There are a lot of clubs to take into account," he told German daily Bild.
"Specifically, there is nothing that has arrived as a far as I know.
"We're going to speak to each other when it takes concrete form.
"There is currently nothing concrete and besides, he is a mainstay for Schalke."
Schalke finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, booking a Champions League spot, a competition that the Greek defender will hope to help the club progress in.
It remains to be seen if a firm bid for Papadopoulos arrives before the transfer window slams shut, but Heldt is clearly hoping one does not.
