Liverpool are moving closer to clinching for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Reds were told earlier this month that they would have to pay at least £20m to secure his services by the Ukrainian powerhouse.
And now it seems that Mkhitaryan, who was also being chased by teams in Germany, Spain and France, could join Liverpool by the end of the week.
According to financial news website, Bloomberg, Ian Ayre was scheduled to appear on a panel at a conference in Rio De Janiero, but scrapped the trip so he could thrash out a deal for him.
The report goes on to suggest that Shakhtar are ready to sell their prized asset, but the player needs to be convinced the Liverpool project is right for him.
Mkhitaryan finished last season as the club's top scorer, netting 25 times in Ukraine's top division.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are optimistic about wrapping up a £9m deal for Sunderland shot stopper Simon Mignolet in the coming days.
