Liverpool are set to continue their spending spree as the Reds have reportedly lined up a swoop for Dutch winger Eljero Elia. Brendan Rodgers has been extremely busy in the transfer window thus far as he has already secured deals for free agent Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas.
The Reds are in need of signing a winger and their pursuit has led them to German Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen for Elia. Liverpool have longstanding interest in the winger who catapulted to fame at Hamburg, but Juventus beat the Merseyside club to the signing of Elia in the 2011 season.
However, Elia's time at Juventus did not go to plan as he made just 4 appearances throughout the entire campaign in which the Bianconeri clinched the league title without losing a single game.
Elia moved to Werder Bremen in the 2012-13 season, and it is now reported that Brendan Rodgers is keen on making a move for the speedy winger, who will provide Liverpool with much needed penetration down the flanks.
The player could yet make the switch to Liverpool as a club of the Reds' pedigree does not come calling often, and a move to Anfield now beckons for the Dutch trickster.
