Iago Aspas is ready to tie up his long-awaited transfer to Livepool after admitting 'the Reds were the only choice for me'.
The Celta Vigo forward will finalise a £7.7million move to Anfield this week, despite reports linking the 25-year-old with Valencia.
He will become Liverpool's second capture of the close season, with Manchester City defender Kolo Toure having already agreed to join on a free transfer next month.
Aspas, a left-footed player who can play anywhere across the front line, revealed that he had cut short a planned holiday in the Caribbean to seal his dream switch to Merseyside, but says it was an easy decision to make.
He said: "I was forced to cancel my holiday in the Caribbean, but the reason I did more than justifies why.
"Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world and although I had offers from Italy and Portugal and other countries I decided my future was in English football."
Reports elsewhere had claimed Liverpool's deal for Aspas was being held up by an agents' wrangle, but the ECHO understands the hold-up is due to an outstanding bonus due to be paid to the player by Celta, after the Spaniard helped them avoid relegation from La Liga on the final day of the season.
Aspas scored 12 goals to help Celta beat the drop in dramatic fashion, and should be confirmed as a Liverpool player imminently.
