Liverpool have been given a hope in signing Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic after the Croatian international admitted that he might consider his future with the La Liga outfit in the summer.
The Spanish newspaper AS believes Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has already set his eyes on signing the Croatian international in the summer.
He is believed to be around £12.7m in the summer and the former Swansea chief is keen on bringing Rakitic to Anfield.
Sevilla have already lost two of their star players Andres Palop and Jesus Navas. The 39-year-old goalkeeper completed his move to German side Bayer Leverkusen while the Spanish international has agreed terms to join Manchester City in the summer.
Rakitic has two years left on his current deal with Sevilla and has admitted the situation at the club is not attractive, after losing two of their key players.
Unai Emery's men finished ninth in the La Liga table with 50 points from 38 games and failure to invest in the transfer window could likely see them lose the 25-year-old in the summer.
"I have a two year contract and I'm very satisfied and happy at the club although it's true that situation in general is not attractive. The club have asked me to say on, they said they wanted to build a new team around me. I told them that I want to see what they have done in terms of signings," Rakitic told Sportske Novosti.
"We must build a team which will be better than this season. We will see what happens in the summer," he added.
The Croatian midfield star was one of the integral players of the Spanish side's last campaign, with eight goals and 10 assists to his name in 34 La Liga appearances. Rakitic has also been a regular for his national side, making over 50 caps for his country since making his debut in 2007.
However, Liverpool signed Philippe Coutinho in January. The addition of Rakitic in the summer could see him pairing with the Brazilian international, which will bolster the Reds midfield for the new season.
