Liverpool are to resurrect their interest in Greek international defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos as they look to add to their defence. Brendan Rodgers is keen to strengthen his squad and wants to add a quality centre-half to his ranks, with the 21-year-old fitting the bill. Rodgers tried to land the Schalke player earlier in the summer but was knocked back by the asking price of £19m, and the Reds are hoping an improved offer of £13m will be enough to persuade Schalke to sell. Much could depend on Schalke's efforts to get into the Champions League group stages and they are closing in on that goal after making it through to the final round of the qualifying stages. If they reach the next phase then the defender is unlikely to want to leave the Bundesliga side for a club who can not offer any European football at all.
