Liverpool will attempt to hijack Tottenham's bid to sign Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.
Tottenham's move for Soldado, 28, has stalled since they offered £22million plus add on clauses at the start of the week.
Los Che president Amadeo Salvo has insisted he will not be sold for less than the £25.8m in his buy-out clause and the two clubs are in stalemate.
Sources in Valencia suggest Spurs have agreed a £3m annual salary in principle with the finisher who has scored six times in 11 appearances for Spain.
Tottenham have already missed out this transfer window on Barcelona striker David Villa who has joined Atletico Madrid while Christian Benteke appeared poised to join them only to perform a U-turn and sign a new four-year contract with Aston Villa.
