Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has told Liverpool to forget about trying to sign Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.
Liverpool are believed to have turned their attention to Swiss ace Shaqiri.
But despite Reds boss Brendan Rodgers readying a £20million bid for the 21-year-old, Bayern chairman Rummenigge insists Shaqiri will be staying put.
'Liverpool have not made an offer for Shaqiri and we want to keep him,' said Rummenigge.
'We neither want to loan him out nor sell him. Pep Guardiola rates him very highly.'
Liverpool had been hopeful of convincing Shaqiri to quit Bayern and move to Anfield, with his chances of match action depleting following the arrival of several big name midfielders during the transfer window including Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara.
However, the Switzerland starlet now looks like he will stay put, at least until January, with meetings planned with new boss Guardiola to discuss his role next term.
Shaqiri has a contract with Bayern until 2016.
