A play which tells the story of Liverpool Football Club is set to return to the city stage.

Nicky Allt's YNWA - The Official History of Liverpool Football Club was a hit for the Royal Court when it was first staged two years ago.

Reds fans are now being given a second chance to see the production which opens at the Roe Street theatre on March 7 and which has the backing of Liverpool FC itself.

And following its run in Liverpool, the show will transfer to the famous Gaiety Theatre in Dublin to entertain Irish LFC fans.

YNWA tells the story of one of the world's most famous football clubs and the glories on the fields of Anfield Road from Elisha Scott, Albert Stubbins and Billy Liddell to Kenny Dalglish , John Barnes and Steven Gerrard.

It covers every major incident in the club's 119-year history.Writer Nicky, who describes himself as one of LFC's most ardent fans and who was given full access to the club's archive, said: "The last time we did the history of the club show we met with brilliant reviews.

"Now the club have endorsed and backed the show we are aiming to make it even better. This is the show we can't wait for."

The show will be directed by Bob Eaton, whose other work with the Royal Court includes Our Day Out, Lennon and Scouse Pacific. Full casting is yet to be announced.

Royal Court chief executive Kevin Fearon said: ""The show was a big success for us here but we know Liverpool have got fans all over the world who would love it.

"Dublin seemed the logical place to take it to next and The Gaiety is a great space for the show. If it is a hit over there then we'd love to take it further.

"Now that LFC are fully behind the project we're really excited about the potential for this show."
