Liverpool have chalked Paris Saint-Germain's Mamadou Sakho off their wanted list, according to Merseyside reports. The French defender has indicated the Reds are keen to secure his services, and admitted he was 'flattered' to be linked with a move to Anfield. However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the 23-year-old is not a target for Brendan Rodgers. Sakho, who struggled for first-team action last season, recently said: 'I'll be able to talk with the new coach [of PSG] and see what he thinks. 'I am flattered by the interest of historic clubs like Liverpool and AC Milan. We will see what happens in the near future.' Rodgers, who has already secured the services of Kolo Toure on a free transfer, is still in the market for a defender, although he is understood to have cooled his interest in Swansea's Ashley Williams. With Jamie Carragher retired, and Martin Skrtel's future still in doubt, Rodgers is expected to focus on securing a deal for Schalke defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos.
