In-demand Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld is determined not to rush to a decision over his future, even if he has conceded that Norwich City are a possible destination.

Alderweireld has been at the centre of an unfolding summer transfer saga involving Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, his employers Ajax, and now Norwich.

The Belgian's contract has just one more year left to run at the Amsterdam ArenA and he is looking for the exit door.

Liverpool have been consistently linked with Alderweireld, while Leverkusen held talks with both Ajax and the player, but were unable to reach an agreement. Norwich have now made contact with Ajax, leading to the player's father to praise the Canaries for the way they are conducting business.

But Alderweireld to Carrow Road is not a done deal yet, with the defender insisting he will think very carefully about his future, leaving the door open for Liverpool or other suitors to make a late play.

"I am still at Ajax and I am happy here", he told Dutch radio station AT5. "Maybe I will stay for a year.

"With every bid that comes, I see if it is good for me. Whether I will stay or not is something we'll have to see about.

"I'm not saying 'no' in advance to Norwich, but I am certainly not saying 'yes' immediately."

And the Belgium international insists that everything must be right for him to bid farewell to Frank de Boer's Dutch champions.

"Maybe I will stay a year, which could be for the best. The overall picture has to be right for me.

"Maybe that will be Norwich City or any other club. And if I have to stay another year at Ajax..."
