Barcelona will ward off interest in Liverpool target Cristian Tello by handing the forward a new two-year deal at the club.
The 21-year-old's importance at the Nou Camp grew last season - he made 22 league appearances and made four outings in the Champions League - and he is expected to feature prominently next term after David Villa joined Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool and Tottenham have both been linked with moves for him in the last year but Barcelona have no intention of selling and will look to finalise his new contract this week.
Tello's contract extension will see him tied down to the La Liga champions until 2018, while Barcelona will raise his release clause fee from £8.5m to £26m.
