Swansea have stepped up their bid to land striker Wilfried Bony with an improved package worth £13.7million.

Boss Michael Laudrup is desperate to land the Vitesse Arnhem star, who plundered 31 goals in 30 games last season.

The Swans, boosting their squad for a Europa League campaign after winning last season's Capital One Cup, have already had an offer of around £10m rejected.

Vitesse are holding out as Liverpool, Everton and West Ham have all expressed interest in the Ivory Coast international.

Bony's agent, Francis Kacou, has now hit out at the Dutch club, appearing to accuse them of reneging on a deal to sell the 24-year-old to the Welshmen.

Kacou said: "Why does it take so long? Six months ago, we made arrangements for a lump sum of 12million euros, regardless of goals.

"Swansea wanted to pay and Bony has seen that, but Vitesse wanted more. Now there is an offer of 14m, plus two million in bonuses.

"Why is Bony still in Arnhem? We do not know what they want."

Speaking to Voetbal International, he added: "West Ham, Everton and Liverpool have been reported as having an interest, but Swansea has made the best offer. I want clarity, and a promise is a promise.

"One thing is for sure, he will not be playing for Vitesse this season."
