Fabio Borini believes Sunderland is the 'right place' for him to breathe new life into his career after joining on loan.
On the back of a frustrating debut campaign back in English football at Liverpool, the former Chelsea and Swansea City frontman has opted to take on a new challenge at the Stadium of Light.
The intention is for him to get regular games, rebuild his fitness and rediscover his touch in front of goal.
Borini is convinced he can hit all of those targets with the Black Cats and feels a season-long stay on Wearside will be beneficial to all concerned.
The 22-year-old forward told Sunderland's official website: "It feels good to make the move. I was waiting to get my time to play and I needed to play.
"This is the right place to come. It is a great opportunity for me. Playing is important for me to achieve my goals for the season."
Borini has also revealed that he sought the advice of Anfield team-mates Jordan Henderson and Simon Mignolet before agreeing a switch to Sunderland - with both men having represented the Black Cats with distinction in the past.
He added: "I asked them a little bit about one or two things about the club.
"They gave me some advice. Obviously Jordan is from Sunderland and Simon was really happy I was coming here.
"He told me it was the right place for me to come and I am really looking forward to it."
