Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has enlisted the help of three of the club's greatest-ever players to help bring through the next generation of Anfield talent.
The Northern Irishman has called upon Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and Rob Jones to return to the club on a part-time basis to provide specialist coaching sessions for the U21 and U18 sides.
Rodgers is keen to utilise their know-how and feels the youngsters at the Kirkby academy will benefit from the experience of working with the former-Kop favourites.
"It's great to have Robbie, Steve and Rob on board," Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo.
"I said at the end of last season that I wanted to get more former players involved and over the off-season I spoke to a number of them about a possible role here."
The-former Swansea boss - who has embraced the rich history of the Anfield club since arriving last summer - is keen to use the individual strengths of each of the greats and hopes they can pass their wealth of experience on.
"Steve McManaman is working with the wingers and attacking players, Rob Jones is doing some work with the full-backs and defenders, and Robbie Fowler is obviously working with the strikers.
"They are giving them little pointers and passing on experiences from their own careers to help the youngsters. What we are doing is providing an opportunity for the former players.
"The young players coming through are picking up vital bits of information. I'm pleased that it's working well."
Liverpool have made a strong start to the season with Sunday's 3-1 away win over managerless Sunderland seeing them rise to second in the Premier League table.
The Reds host struggling Crystal Palace on Saturday where Rodgers will hope to see more from his burgeoning strike partnership of top-scorer Daniel Sturridge and the returning Luis Suarez.
