Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is lining up a bid for Manchester City's Micah Richards in a move to bolster his squad's defensive options for next season.
The Mirror is reporting that with the impending retirement of Jamie Carragher, Rodgers is keen to add some more steel to his backline.
And the 40-year-old has made Richards his number one target.
However, the Reds manager is not alone in admiration for the 24-year-old, with a host of clubs, including Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Juventus interested in the England international.
But City aren't about to let Richards walk out the door.
Despite enduring an injury ravaged season, Richards is seen as a vital piece of City manager Roberto Mancini's plans for next season.
However, all options are being kept open, and a bid being accepted for Richards is not an impossible thought.
But any transfer will have to be in the region of £15 million to tempt City to part with the defender.
