Liverpool have been given encouragement in their bid to resurrect their interest in Modibo Diakite.
The Reds were on the Lazio defender's tail during the January transfer window, however were unable to close out a deal.
Napoli looked to be the frontrunners for Diakite's signature, however a deal could be dead in the water.
"We're in a phase where we are quite far away, almost close to extinction," Diakite's agent told Radio CRC.
"We've agreed terms, but it seems that Napoli don't have the certainty required to complete the transfer.
"We are at Napoli's disposal, but I am obliged to look around as that is my job."
Diakite has yet to make an appearance for Lazio this season.
