Liverpool are set to make around £4million if Tom Ince moves from Blackpool.

The Reds will benefit from a 50 percent sell-on clause when the free-scoring England Under-21 star, who the Championship club bought from them in 2011, moves on.

Premier League new boys Cardiff had been front runners to land the midfielder and have agreed an £8million fee with Blackpool.

But now Swansea, Cardiff's bitter local rivals, have offered a similar amount.

The Swans, who have already been active in the market this summer, can offer Ince the extra incentive of Europa League football following their League Cup triumph in February.

Whether the 21-year-old transforms into a Bluebird or a Swan, Liverpool are set to be rewarded for the decision to insert the clause into the agreement that took Ince to Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool boss Paul Ince confirmed at the weekend that the bidding war over his son, also linked with Spurs and a return to Anfield, had started.

He said: "I think it's 50/50 at the moment. It's a tricky one for me. Ideally you want your son to be playing in the Premier League, but you also want him to be playing for you."
