Liverpool have been given the green light to land long-term target Lacina Traore after he was told he can leave Anzhi in January.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is a long-term fan of giant striker Traore, having tried to sign him last year.

The switch fell through at the last minute, with Anzhi deciding not to sell, but according to Traore's agent, he can now leave when the transfer window re-opens.

'If a good offer arrives that suits us then Lacina is free to leave in January,' said agent Dmitry Selyuk.

'The demand for him is huge in Russia and especially in Europe.'

Traore, who has also been linked with Arsenal, has scored 13 goals in his last 27 matches for Anzhi and is in great form.

The 23-year-old cost Anzhi about £15million in July 2012, but with the Russian club desperate to shed their big earners, he is expected to go for around half that amount.

Liverpool are on the lookout for another striker in January, with Rodgers previously admitting that he wants to add further fire power to help the club's push for European football.
